Molecular Imprints, Inc. a maker of imprint lithography, raised $17 million in the first closing of a planned $25 million series C financing led by Dai Nippon Printing Company, Alloy Ventures, Motorola Ventures, Harris & Harris, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Hakuto Co.Ltd. and Asset Management Partners.

Founded by Dr. S.V. Sreenivasan, Molecular Imprints will use the money to expand its Imprio product line to meet growing customer demand. To date, MII has raised over $60 million in funding.

Austin, TX based Molecular Imprints was started in 2001 to design, develop, manufacture and support imprint lithography systems for high resolution and for 3-dimensional pattern replication. Molecular Imprints enables lithography systems and technology for manufacturing applications in the areas of: nano-devices, magnetic data storage applications, solid-state lighting, micro optical components, compound semiconductors and select silicon applications.

Molecular Imprints holds or has filed for, over 300 patent applications worldwide, related to all aspects of S-FIL, including intellectual property in the areas of fluid dispense and control, overlay alignment, template fabrication and imprint materials

Dr. Sreenivasan, Chief Technical Officer, is one of the founders of the company and one of the inventors of the technology while he was a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Sreenivasan is a recognized authority in the areas of robotics and nano-precision machines.
