Founded in 1982 and headquartered at San Rafael, CA, Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) is an American multinational software corporation that makes software for the architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, media and entertainment industries. The company has a market capital of $10.73 billion.

Today, technology is moving with an unprecedented speed creating disruptions in every industry. Everything is becoming digital with the advent of Internet of Things, Reality computing, and 3-D printing or Additive manufacturing, to name a few. Additive manufacturing is revolutionizing the manufacturing industry by empowering it to develop even the most complex designs with ease, in lesser time and money.

Present Day Challenges

Albeit technology is streamlining many of the industrial acumens and has not provided any satisfied solutions for enterprise collaboration. This lack of collaboration infrastructure results prevents access of right information at right time and facilitates inefficiency. Executives have to urge service providers to provide a robust tool to carry out adequate collaboration.

Setting up right priorities should be the first thing for every business leader at the start of their day. We have millions of customers to attend and thousands of employees to lead and with limited time it is our job to fathom which area needs more supervision. Whether it is customers to address, new technologies to look after, or eminent employees to realize, it all comes down to a calculative approach to address them according to their gravity. Set your daily, monthly and annual goals and avoid daily distractions to become a proficient leader.

In addition, Speed, competition and war for talent are three challenges that are a main concern of today’s leaders in our new technology paradigm.

a) Pace of doing business and origination of technologies has increased dramatically over the years. Twenty years ago, business leaders were having liberty to plan their targets for imminent years but now every month or everyday can be different.
b) Nature of competition has changed immensely as every company around the globe is on share technology platform.
c) Gradually and steadily hunt for talent is growing as we are becoming a knowledge driven economy who are constantly fighting for finding smart people, and to keep smart people.

Develop New Ideas Necessary to Thrive

We encourage our R&D to take risk and allow them to experiment new possibilities and outcomes. Sometimes experiments turn into real things and sometime it results in failure. But it is not about tolerating failure but accepting failure in a smart way. With Innovation we bring something to life so it is less about brilliant idea nobody has thought about and more about thinking the idea, and making it practical to implement in real life. We try to make sure that we have processes by which people can experiment, learn and develop new ideas necessary to thrive. (As told to Arun Kant)
