General Informatics The 'People and Services' Company
SI Team
Friday, November 1, 2013
While majority of firms created by Indian entrepreneurs are technology centric, Mohit founded General Informatics to be a 'people and services' company. The focus was on making people successful and proud of using technology. "General Informatics was going to be a company that is loved by its customers, who could succeed using technology easily, effectively and economically. I also wanted our employees to love GI for how it gave them the opportunity to maximize their potential and enrich their own lives."

By its 4th year of being operational, General Informatics had become 10th fastest growing companies in Louisiana with an average annual growth rate of 269%. Microsoft acknowledged their solution as the best in the country amongst 6000 IT companies and General Informatics was listed four times in Inc.500|5000 Magazine's as one of the fastest growing companies in America (2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013). Mohit who was already a 'Top 40 under 40" honoree in Baton Rouge, was awarded 'The Young Business person of the Year'.
Behind all the success and ease of using technology by its clients laid years of innovative work and strong foundation of technologies, people and systems-a platform called TotalCARE. Along with services, General Informatics created and branded its own Cloud-Server365, partnered with the likes of AT&T, Dell, Shoretel, Xerox, Microsoft etc. and even Indian innovative companies such as Vembu technologies, Zenith InfoTech etc. TotalCARE caters to the end-to-end technology needs of thousands of end users in Louisiana. Whether it's a Server, a Router, Phones, Software, Security cameras or Printers GI installs it and manages it. General Informatics also developed an award winning backup system with the collaboration with its Indian partners to especially manage backups and DR for companies in the gulf coast, an area prone to Hurricanes.
Though Mohit is from Jalandhar, Baton Rouge became the home for General Informatics. His training in Industrial Engineering and System Science was going to come handy building a Systems company. General Informatics has become a well know name amongst AEC companies, Healthcare and Law Enforcement who use their services and products on a regular basis. To the list of its recent innovations are an E-Citation system called GiSMo that is used by many law enforcement agencies to issue traffic tickets. Classis IT is going through a cusp. There are new shifts and new opportunities. As our Cloud offerings such as Managed Email, Backup and Servers mature, we are transitioning to a unified experience provided by integrating our own SAAS applications with third party apps and our hybrid-cloud-Infrastructure offering. The best part is we have people on the ground who nicely complement technology, to make it truly useful.
