Farmville Veterans secures $1.5 Million
SI Team
Monday, April 1, 2013
San Fransisco based Red Hot Labs, has raised $1.5 million in seed funding for the development of mobile games and platform technology. The company's investors include Andreessen Horowitz, Greylock Partners, SV Angel, General Catalyst, Japan's IT-Farm and private individuals. The company is lead by founders Amitt Mahajan and Joel Poloney. Amitt also serves as the CEO of the company. The duo was behind the making of Zynga's Farmville. They also created the reusable game engine that has been deployed in a majority of Zynga's games.

"In the last few years, the combination of powerful technology combined with intuitive user interfaces built on top of Facebook has disrupted the industry and changed the way consumers interact with one another," says Amitt. "We believe mobile is the obvious next disruptive platform, but the tools to realize its potential do not yet exist. Our focus is on creating better ways of building and distributing applications that will be essential to companies and consumers in an increasingly mobile-¬centric world."

Red Hot Labs hopes to create more robust and social mobile games with the help of the funding. The founders have also clearly mentioned that the company will not solely be a game developer. The company is looking for pain points that are common to all mobile game developers that they can build technology and services around. The San Francisco-based startup has currently built a skills-based bingo game to be released in April and is in the process of developing a second game.
