Ramkumar Subramanian has recently taken over as the VP - Sales and marketing at AMD. Based in Bangalore, he will be responsible for driving AMD’s growth plans in India and SAARC region and strengthening the company’s relationships with customers, partners, government, and education audiences. Ramkumar has over 12 years of engineering and corporate development experience in varied positions at AMD. Before taking over his new role, he was the Director of Corporate Development and was responsible for initiatives in China, Brazil, and Russia. Prior to that he was a senior member of the Technology Development Group. An accomplished engineer, Ramkumar is an inventor of more than one hundred of AMD’s patents and pending applications in semiconductor process technology.

Talking about his appointment, Ramkumar says, “I see this as an opportunity to build on the several achievements of the team and strengthen India’s global presence and AMD’s continued success.” He believes that success comes with professionalism and the courage to stand up for what one believes in. If a leader has firm belief in his vision and is determined to stay focused on the goals, there is no stopping for the team and the organization from achieving it, he says.

Looking at the dynamically changing IT industry, he advises young techies that it is extremely important for them to understand their talent and choose the right work environment that can add tremendous value to their experience. “The market is flooded with technology openings and it is up to these professionals to decide for themselves the company that can boost up their career,” he adds.
