'DJ' Patil named first U.S. chief data scientist

On 18th February, 2015, Dhanurjay 'DJ' Patil was
named as the first U.S. chief data scientist, a term he helped coin. The 45-year-old has been
appointed by the White House to shape policies
and practices that will help the U.S. to remain
on top as a leader in the field of technology and
innovation. Prior to his commitment as a White
House's data scientist, Patil has worked in the
private sector associated with several big-names; including LinkedIn, Silicon Valley operations and eBay. Patil has also worked at the department of defense. Patil will also work on the Obama administration's Precision Medicine Initiative,
reporting to US Chief Technology Officer Megan Smith.
