ON Semiconductor has named M.K. Mak as the regional vice president of Sales for Korea and South Asia. Mak began his career in the supply chain domain at Motorola Semiconductor, and later enriched his experience by handling different functions like marketing, strategic planning, information technology, and business management around the world including Singapore and the U.S. Later he moved onto ON Semiconductor, as one of the founding members of this spin off from Motorola. He considers this as the turning point in his career.

Mak, who has over 17 years of experience the industry, will focus in his new role on building and strengthening the teams of sales and field applications professionals throughout the geography to leverage the company's sales achievements to the next level. A well-known leader, he is a board member of the Discrete Products Branch of China Semiconductor Industry Association, a Chartered Marketer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the U.K., and a fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors. He believes that if one has strategic eyes, sound brains, and capable hands, one will be unwaveringly on the path of success. On leadership, he follows Winston Churchill’s famous quote, "To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often." "Our industry is extremely competitive and dynamic. To be ahead in the game, we need to keep changing in a smart way," he says.

Mak has two bachelor degrees and three master's degrees from universities in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia. He has always been fascinated by the rich ability of a picture to convey a theme beyond what words can do. So, nowadays in leisure he loves to fidget around with his newly bought DSLR camera and experiment with photography. "I am amazed that there are so many buttons and settings to control in order to get a great shot. With my professional background, I know where to search for a 'big' picture," he quips.
