In an age where one device does multiple jobs (cellular phones) it’s imperative to save and manage power. ArchPro Design Automation Inc, based in San Jose, CA has been working on technology that helps reduce power consumption in devices. The firm recently bagged $4.5 million in series B funding from Intel Capital and Entrepia, based in Japan.

Speaking about the VC interest in his company, Srikanth Jadcherla, CTO and founder says, “The technology has sparked the interest of every customer we have talked to and we are now engaged with top tier companies in U.S., Japan and now increasingly in emerging markets like India.”

The company will use the funds to expand its customer base and develop more power management products that will find increasing usage in mobile devices and IC design flow. “By 2007-08, about 2500 ICs will be under pressure to reduce power and we expect to be a major player in that segment,” says Jadcherla adding, “We hope to capture a significant part of that market.”

“ArchPro brings a very unique technology to the IC industry. We enable the most aggressive power savings techniques to be realized in a very short period of time. We have three unique industry-first products based on this technology, that are proven on the most advanced Semiconductor processes today,” Jadcherla says about his products.

However competition is one thing Jedcherla isn’t quite worried about. He says as their products are unique in their space, there is no competition. “EDA majors and other startups have begun to emerge, taking notice of the rapidly growing market. They are focusing on extensions to their current tool flows that address different aspects of the flow. Nevertheless, they are unable to address the customers key concerns about the design itself and ArchPro is filling this big void,” Jedcherla claims.

With offices and development centers in India, the company has 28 employees and will hire more in India.
