11th Edition of BangaloreIT.biz focuses on ‘IT for B2B’

With the theme ‘IT for B2B’, the 11th edition of the mega IT event BangaloreIT.biz recently kicked off in India’s IT hub, Bangalore. Beginning on 6 Nov, the three-day event created a platform for the industry to network and gave opportunity for the ICT fraternity to update themselves on the trends and the future roadmaps of the industry. Inaugurating the event, Chief Minister of Karnataka, B.S.Yeddyurappa, talked about the plans to upgrade the infrastructure facilities in and around the cities. “The state government has committed Rs 1,800 crore for the development of infrastructure of Bangalore, which has been a major hindrance for the easy movement for the IT human resources,” he said. This year, IT.Biz roped in Mexico as the partner country and Gujarat as the partner state.

Katta Subramanya Naidu, Minister for IT & BT, Information, Excise and BWSSB, Government of Karnataka, talked about the revision with inputs from the Vision Panel. “The growth rate of the IT industry in Karnataka has grown from 17 percent last year to 28 percent this year. The Government proposes to set up an Electronic Hardware Technology Park near Bangalore International Airport at Devanahalli. It has cleared 32 IT projects involving an investment of over Rs. 3600 Crores,” he said. The event saw a participation of more than 100 companies, Infosys, Wipro, Microsoft, Cisco, Intel, AMD, Siemens, Nokia, BSNL, Airtel, HP, IBM, Dell, Oracle, Texas Instruments, TCS to name a few. Conferences and round tables covering verticals like Healthcare, Telecom, Education, Cyber & National security, Green technologies, GIS & Spacial technology and an exclusive round table by the Government of Karnataka on Rural IT Policies were some of the highlights of the event. A special emphasis was made on manufacturing, with sessions on ‘IT manufacturing - Made in India’ by MAIT and ‘Advantage India- Solar PV’ by ISA. The ‘CEO Conclave’, saw Industry Captains from the ICT Industry as well as IT User Groups and Policy Makers coming together on a single platform and throw light on the challenges ahead in times of global slowdown.
