siliconindia | | June 20166EditorialSagaya ChristurajManaging Editoreditor@siliconindia.comWith a record 4,750 attendees at the Santa Clara, CA, Convention Center, Venktesh Shukla, President, TiE, set the tone for TiEcon 2016 with unveiling a new logo--moving to a bold font on a red background. Paraphrasing Shukla, the Red in the new logo envisages new "energy".The sea of entrepreneurs--young and mature--was in for a treat. The global conference networking extravaganza kicked off with inspiring keynotes from the likes of Shantanu Narayen, Kailash Satyarthi, and Vishal Sikka. The new format of the event kept the attendees' immersed, with talks on various topics ranging from Internet of Things, Future of Cloud & IT, and Data Economy to Entrepreneurship. The speakers included bigwigs from Google, Amazon, VMware, Tesla, Twitter and venture firms such as New Enterprise Associates and Palo Alto Networks. Cloud remained a hot-button topic this year too. The disquisitions resonated with the general state of affairs of the cloud technology. Concerns about hurdles for the adoption of the technology such as costs and security were topics of interest. The message at the end, by Sunil Potti of Nutanix, who moderated the Cloud Panel, summarized it all--The Cloud is here to stay. This thought was also evident during TiE50--Silicon Valley's premier annual awards program for technology startups. A good chunk of the 50 winners had either built their solutions on the Cloud or provided services in the space. The mission is clear energizing and motivating the growth of Cloud. The dust has settled on TiEcon 2016 but the sparks it has created will continue to light the flame of entrepreneurship for Indian community, especially with Modi's visit to the U.S. around the corner. The Indian Prime Minister's previous visit was the base for the success of the Digital India Initiative. Expectations are set high this time. The meeting of the two world leaders this month will stir the technology space yet again.Continuing with the tradition of encouraging rising entrepreneurs and bringing promising technologies to light, this edition of SiliconIndia brings the focus to the Cloud. We present to you "The 20 Most promising Cloud Solution Providers 2016," interspersed with insights from industry experts. I hope you enjoy reading this edition.
