Flying high Date:   Tuesday , February 27, 2007 SemIndia, a company promoted by entrepreneurs and semiconductor experts, has a vision of making India the hub of semiconductor manufacturing; the dream is fast materializing, as top officials are roped in back to back to head this venture. Ajay Marathe, ex-President of AMD, India takes over as the Chief Operating Officer of the company. Ajay Marathe held various roles in his stretch of 23 years at AMD, including Corporate VP of Operations heading the Microprocessor Assembly and Test Plants of AMD in Malaysia and Singapore. He also served as VP for Information Technology and VP in charge of the Global Supply Chain for three years. “At SemIndia, my role is much broader,“ says Marathe. “I am the Chief Operating Officer of the company and also part of the executive team that creates the strategy. I will therefore leverage all my prior experience of setting up large operations, managing the supply chain as well as acquiring customers,” he adds.
