India lags in broadband penetration

Date:   Wednesday , April 30, 2008

India has touched 2.5 million broadband subscriber base, i.e. every one out of four hundred people have a broadband connection. In fact, this being the reality the government has set a target of getting 20 million Indians access to broadband Internet by 2010. A mammoth and ambitious task, but is it realistic?

India has to overcome the three main roadblocks for low penetration - incapability of network to offer broadband Internet solutions, lack of computer education, and penetration of PCs.
