Striving for Success

Dr. Harmeet Singh’s appointment as the Vice President of International Business Development happened at a significant time when Tejas Networks (after its success in the highly competitive Indian market), with their range of next-generation SDH products, is keen on harbouring the western market.

‘‘Tejas has a great team already in place and the product and technology vision makes perfect sense for the evolving optical infrastructure globally,” says Singh. He aims at leveraging their R&D facility and making a name for Tejas in the world market.

Thus, Singh is keen on building a team that is competent and prospective in scaling the organization in becoming a global success and achieve profitability.

His experience in general and product management in the international arena plays a key role in leveraging Tejas products in the U.S. market. Prior to joining Tejas, Singh was serving as the CEO of Optovia, which he founded in 2002. He led the company through its early stages to maturity, closing several Tier 1 accounts. Optovia was acquired by JDSU in 2006.

This was not his first stint in bootstrapping a company; Singh started Qtera, where he was key contributor in architecting one of the earliest OC192 ultra long haul products. He later on led the transmission system and optical component teams at Nortel Networks, which he joined through the acquisition of Qtera Corp in January 2000.

Singh holds a Bachelor degree from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, India, executive education in Finance from Harvard Business School and a PhD from University of Maryland, College Park
