Sir Dorabji Jamsetji Tata, and Sir Ratan Tata, who completed his hydroelectric project in the Western Ghats. They also brought the original companies under the corporate umbrella of Tata Sons and Company, and set up shop in London, Paris, New York, Shanghai, and Kobe. The Tata empire remains one of India's largest business groups. Jehangir Ratanji Tata led the empire from 1938 to 1993, successfully continuing to expand and diversify business. When JRD Tata passed away, Ratan Naval Tata (pictured above) assumed control of the empire.
