Date:   Tuesday , November 28, 2006

It has been a case of India calling for Pranesh Anthapur, who is back from the Yahoo HQ to head the Yahoo India Research & Development team.

The Indian chapter of the American based Internet services company has appointed Anthapur as their Chief Operating Officer and he will be heading their operations as well as being the leader for all the innovation happening at the R&D center in Bangalore. In existence since 2002 and currently employing over 800 people, the center is rapidly expanding and is eyeing the 1000 mark in headcount by the year-end. Anthapur's prior exposure in recruiting global talent as Vice President for Yahoo's International HR and HR Mergers & Acquisitions group in Sunnyvale, may now come to good use.

This appointment comes close to the heels of the appointment of Pete Deemer who moved from Yahoo!'s Sunnyvale office to become the Chief Product Officer of Yahoo! India R&D. Speaking on the occasion, Venkat Panchapakesan, CEO of Yahoo India Research and Development mentioned that in his new role, Anthapur will provide direction to all the operational areas of the center including business planning and process enhancements.
