With wide experience, the veteran Venkatesh Valluri has been elected as Chairman by the Board of Directors of Ingersoll Rand (India). He will lead the development of the vision and strategic direction of Ingersoll Rand in India and will be accountable for driving the growth and profitability in the region. He succeeds Daljit L Mirchandani who resigned as Director and consequently relinquished office as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

“As we transition to the next level, we will add value to our customers, partners, shareholders, and the industries within which we work,” says Valluri. He was appointed President of Ingersoll Rand in India in May 2009. Before joining Ingersoll Rand, Valluri was associated with the global measurement technology leader, Agilent Technologies, as its President and Country Manager for over five years. Prior to Agilent he held various leadership roles at GE (General Electric) in India and abroad.

According to Valluri, despite having a mentor on the technical side one can never make big career moves if one does not have a leadership mentor. A leader’s acid test lies not in the profits he earns or corporate successes he engineers, but in the number of leaders he coaches and nurtures in the organization. The barometer of leadership is the depth of leadership potential.

Valluri also serves on the board of United Way India. He holds a bachelor’s degree in technology in electronics and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.
