Google Acquires Indian-headed Firm to Beat Apple? Date:   Tuesday , May 04, 2010 When the consumer electronic giant Apple bought the semiconductor firm PA Semi in 2008 for $280 million, they hardly knew that some people from their acquired firm will turn a threat to them. We see the Internet giant Google in a shopping spree, and it has recently bought a hardware company called Agnilux, though the details of the deal are yet to be revealed. The startup is headed by Amarjit Gill, an ex-PA Semi employee with other ex-Apple and ex-PA Semi employees forming the leadership. What’s interesting in this new buyout is that this shopping may turn pricier for Apple, as the over-ambitious Google has scanned the company with relevance. Agnilux’s expertise is said to be used in such hot products as the iPad (more specifically, its A4 processor) and possibly will make its way into the so called iPhone 4G. In fact, danger looms large as the startup is in a stealth mode and the work it is currently involved in is kept under closed hoods. Mark Hayter, the Chief Operating Officer at Agnilux, blankly replied in an interview with a news journal, “We want to make a splash. We don’t want our manufacturer to take our intellectual property before we’re ready.” If reports are to be believed, it is said that they are working on some kind of server and that the company has a partnership in place with Cisco. Readers may assume that another custom low power server implementation to compete with Qualcomm's Snapdragon or Apple's A4 could be on the way. Such assumptions, however, could be left at bay, with the association of Google with the company. The rage against Apple is quite expected, especially since it has hopped ahead boasting a market capital that surpasses that of the tech giant Microsoft. So, who’s next on the line to be the Apple killer?
