Sify launches fourth data center in Mumbai

Eyeing higher demand for third-party server and storage service, Sify Technologies has launched its fourth data center in Airoli, near Mumbai.

The center, spread across 100,000 sq.ft, is resistant to earthquakes, and is equipped with tier III compliant cooling and power systems and has international standard certifications for hosting facilities.

The new center, when complete, will be worth Rs. 150 crore. At present Sify has data centers in Bangalore and Chennai. The company is looking to invest $100 million in data center business in the next two years. Construction of a new data center in Noida is already under way. Sify also plans to set up a second data center in Bangalore within the next four quarters.

M P Vijay Kumar, Chief Financial Officer, Sify Technologies, said, “We have been investing for growth in the capacity of our backbone infrastructure and will expand our network to over 500 points of presence in the country shortly.”

Though most of Sify’s customers are large national and multinational players, SMBs are also gradually turning into data center clients.
