Transitioning Through Different Roles Date:   Thursday , January 29, 2009 Dr. Vinod V Vasudevan has joined Flytxt as the Group CEO. Having 20 years of in-depth experience in Software and Telecommunications sectors spanning across India, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America, a major part of his career has been research oriented. An Alumni of IIT, Kharagpur where he received his Doctorate, Masters, and Bachelors Degrees in computer science and engineering, Vasudevan has served with Newstakes, Kent Ridge Digital Labs, and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) in various senior technology and management positions. At Kent Ridge, he was involved in setting the MPEG 7 standardization and ISO standards. He joins Flytxt from Reliance Communications, which he joined during the division's inception and last served as Senior VP & Head of Integrated Services. In this role he was responsible for getting new products, formulating innovative strategies, and growing the business. His current role at Flytxt, though not different in responsibilities, is comparatively different in terms of authoritative powers. The immediate task in his hand is to reinstate the company's market presence and grow the current team of 50 by 100 or 150 percent. A good mentor and coach, his strength lies in bringing the best out of people and he believes in leadership by guidance. Looking back, Vasudevan is quite content with the way he has transitioned from pure research, applied research, and entrepreneurship to finally business development. Outside work, he passionately follows golf and spends time reading, especially classical fiction and philosophy.
