Spearheading the Company Date:   Tuesday , August 03, 2010 Having started his career as a Management Consultant in Booz & Company backed by 8 years of experience in WNS as the ex–COO, Anup Gupta has now become the Managing Director of Nexus Venture Partners. Gupta remarked on his appointment and said, “I am delighted to join the Nexus team. In a short span of time, Nexus has become the leading venture fund in India with a strong reputation of being an active value-added partner.” Gupta’s current role will require him to work in a close circle with portfolio companies to choose new investments for the company. Located in Mumbai, he will administer the business and consumer services in Nexus. Gupta’s contribution in WNS is significant as he transformed it from a nascent state to NYSE traded revenue of more than $300 million. He designed new services and was a propeller of the globalization strategy. Gupta seems to be a firm decision maker and is quite happy with his career progress so far. His career mantra is ‘to achieve one’s goal, it is crucial to be at the right place at the right time’. He says, “I have been fortunate enough to be with great people to guide me around.” A graduate from both IIT Kharagpur and IIM Kolkata, he was also a Principal with eVentures India, a pioneer venture capital firm. On his advice to techies he relies on the fact that, “It is extremely consequential for any professional to have a business insight, where technology is the key enabler. Technology should not be developed just to stay ahead in the competition, but rather it is necessary to analyze the market situation and act in accordance with it.”
