Date:   Monday , August 03, 2009

With a huge potential in the Indian market for Vehicle Tracking Systems (VTS), American Megatrends India (AMI) has launched Falcon-i, a VTS to cash in on the demand. “The advantage is that all the hardware and software requirements are provided by AMI and not by a third-party,” says Subramonian Shankar, Founder and President, AMI, which manufactures both hardware and software components. The device can continuously monitor route deviations, over speeding, fuel consumption, and journey time.

Falcon-i has been designed, developed, and manufactured in AMI’s operations in Chennai, headed by Sridharan Mani. The Indian subsidiary is part of AMI that has nine offices around the world. The device uses GPRS technology to transfer data from the vehicle to the owner through messages or the dedicated website. The basic model will cost Rs. 10,000 per unit and the prices will vary depending on additional features. AMI is mainly targeting segments like goods carriers, mining industry, BPOs, and schools.
