Birla Institute of Technology: Liberating Through Knowledge

Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) was established by industrialist and philanthropist B.M. Birla in Mesra, Ranchi. Initially providing technology education, the institute extended its education offering to Management in 1979 with an aim to improve the academic scenario of the nation. BIT, Mesra, is ranked 25th by National Institutional Ranking Framework, Ministry of Human Resource Development, and Government of India in category of Management (Research and Teaching). The institutes MBA extension centres are in Jaipur, Allahabad, Kolkata, Lalpur, Noida and Patna.

The subjects offered are two-year full-time. Master of Business Administration, Doctoral programme (PhD) in management and dual functional specialization along with a Sectoral specialization by highly qualified faculties with publications in national and international journals. These sectoral specializations involve healthcare, agro-business, hospitality, operations and manufacturing, safety management and insurance & bank management. The pedagogy adopted involves role plays, case studies, management games and presentations besides classroom lectures.

Student activities involve annual management conclaves, B.TRIX and CONUNDRAM and a quarterly newsletter, MANE-A-BIT. The on campus startup ecosystem is supported by entrepreneurial and startup focused social events that have a PAN India presence. The campus is spread over an expanse of 980 acre and facilitates a central library, two auditoriums, extensive gym and recreational facilities. It has also introduced the concept of Small Industries Entrepreneurs� Park for boosting micro-entrepreneurship and has established international alliance with Purdue University, U.S., University of New Brunswick, Canada and many more.
