This new role gives him an opportunity to focus and have a better control on the sales teams handling Government verticals. “I also offer choice to customers through Open Source software solutions,” adds Sehgal.
Open source is gaining awareness in states like Kerala, where the government is showing keen interest in policies such as the Open Document Format (ODF). Thus, it is evident that the government of India has great potential for further open source adoption adds Sehgal.
With 17 years of experience from companies including IBM, Telstra, L&T, HCL and Novell, Sehgal is keen on building a strong team in driving sales. Prior to Red Hat, Sehgal was with IBM, where he was responsible for the government business for the technology segment of the company.
Citing the importance of technology, Sehgal says that it cannot be ignored in any current organization. “The Indian government is rapidly updating its systems,” says he, “and at this juncture, it is essential for the government to consider the long-term picture.”
Sehgal is looking forward to presenting the benefits of open source and solutions from Red Hat to government organizations as they make their IT decisions going forth.
