Are you Using Windows XP? It’s Time for a Change

If your PC has Windows XP or any other older versions of Windows installed in it, then it is high time to either switch to a more recent version of Windows or upgrade your Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) to Service Pack 3 (SP3) before July 13. From that day onwards, you will not be getting any support assistance and security updates for the old operating systems.
Microsoft is putting an end to its support for Windows 2000 in about a month’s time, specifically on July 13. This means that users of older versions of Windows will no longer be able to download security updates, hardware drivers, or other fixes to keep the OS protected and up to date. The only option for users is to use Microsoft’s Knowledge Base (News - Alert) and other online help.
Microsoft is recommending that anyone still using Windows 2000 must upgrade to Windows 7 for their clients and to Windows Server 2003, Server 2008, or Server 2008 R2 for their servers. In case of Windows XP SP2 users, the solution is simpler. They just have to apply SP3 to their PCs, and they will be supported. Since support for Vista ended on April 13, Vista users also have to apply SP1 or the better SP2 to their PCs.
But that doesn’t mean that you have to be in a rush to install the latest service pack. When Microsoft releases a new service pack, it does offer support for the previous service pack for 24 months. So take your time and do thorough testing, but yes, make sure that your PC does get updated.
