Voicetap, the three-year old startup plans to raise $7 million in the second round of funding. Previously with a seed funding of $ 0.75 million from a Singapore based company Voicetap has managed to gather adequate subscribers till date.

The Delhi based startup was founded by Mrigank Tripathi, Vivek Khandelwal and Devanshu Pandey in the year 2009. So far the company has already managed to raise $1 million from CCube Angels (Singapore), Frontline Strategy and angel investor Umesh Kumar Baweja. Voicetap's technology allows students to assess themselves and also access actual educational content and counseling services over the mobile. It plans to implement this new venture for the benefit of students as they can have access to information through their mobile phones which is within their reach. Adding to it the company also plans to execute a service to the masses which provides them results nearing to their location.

So far the company has successfully managed to acquire two of the country’s largest mobile operators Airtel and Tata Docomo as its customers.

The company feels that education is clearly a big game, as mobile operators are looking at newer services that can generate revenues, as revenue from traditional value-added services drops. The organization has won many stars to its credit with Red Herring Global 100 Award in 2010, and a proud nomination for Mobile Premier Awards. In 2010, Voicetap was part of 10 Companies selected for NASSCOM EMERGE 50 – The League of Ten for 2010, at the Emergeout Conclave 2010.
