'Natural user interface (NUI) is the next revolution in electronics' is an assertion echoed by all the enthusiasts at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2010. Many of the electronic biggies like Sony, Samsung and LG vied to showcase their feat of bringing the 3D experience home via 3D TVs, the market for which is expected to touch $17 billion. If Avatar on the big screens mesmerized you then these TVs could be your best bet as it gives the 3D effect naturally, without glasses. These TVs may also turn remote controller-less too, with the emergence of the idea of controlling the devices remotely via bare hands.

The NUI impact is witnessed on other giants like Microsoft, HP, Google and Lenovo, who excited the onlookers at a more personal level, through their tablets. The tablet market is the new battle ground for them. Apple has set the industry standard with its iPad, the only buzz maker who skipped CES, with Windows 7-powered HP Slate standing next. However, the Lenovo IdeaPad a tablet cum laptop is a design that consumers may like to see more. As a laptop, it uses Windows 7 with an Intel Core 2 Duo CULV processor and as a tablet, the display employs Linux with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

A six percent jump in attendance with 120,000 people squeezing into the Las Vegas Convention Center, was a testimony of CES impact. However, the onslaught of the tablet trend is faced by the chipmakers. For any mobile device low power is the key – a reason for which, processors of the biggies like Intel are at bay. The threat was quite visible at CES as chipmakers diversified their portfolio, for instance Freescale's foray into the tablet market.

Tablets and 3D remained the biggest attraction, however, the biggest electronic show did have its regular share of unique ideas like touch-screened microwave oven and washer dryer which used android operating system. It enables the user to get the perfect cooking settings and even to check mails while cooking, another instance that stamps the new ride in user interface.
