'In God we trust; all others bring data.', quoted W. Edward Deming, eminent statistician and professor, perhaps best known for his 'Plan-Do-Check-Act' management cycle. Today, the amount of data generated across the globe is truly staggering, and continues to grow exponentially. Machine data from systems, applications, devices, and all digital signals is a secret treasure for companies and businesses to uncover hidden patterns, unknown correlations, market trends, customer preferences and other useful business information. Big Data analytics, regarded as the Nostradamus of 21st century, is extrapolating valuable insights from large amounts of structured and unstructured data to establish the who, what, when, and where, that is critical in enterprise decision making.

India being one of the fastest emerging markets and the second largest world population abundantly generates and leverages Big Data, from optimizing travel websites for seasonal traffic to predicting election results. When Zee Entertainment came up with India's first Over-the-Top TV platform - DittoTV in 2012, Big Data was still taking baby steps in Indian market. The OTT platform needed a reliable and scalable analytics platform to manage data collection from several sources of diverse infrastructure components, and deliver real-time insights and responsive business metrics. SmartCirqls stepped in and took up the challenge. SmartCirqls uses Splunk to consolidate raw machine data from the source & correlate across information silos, bringing a unified approach to data analysis.

Unifying Processes & People

SmartCirqls was incepted in 2012 by Siddharth Ugrankar with the goal to make machine data searchable and actionable to enterprises in India. Siddharth as the former CEO of bSmart, a bulk SMS platform, was evaluating solutions to provide end-to-end visibility across the IT infrastructure, when he came across Splunk. Realising the unmatched potential of the product, he foresaw the coming tide and founded SmartCirqls, partnering with the U.S. based Big Data analytics giant. Today, SmartCirqls is a pioneer in delivering Splunk for Operational & Business Intelligence and Machine data solutions.

SmartCirqls uses Splunk to consolidate raw machine data from the source or point of creation in an IT environment. SmartCirqls' engineers build up the business and IT views of the data and correlate across information silos to bring a unified approach to data analytics. The team of data architects build out data models using transaction, usage, and point of sales data, coupled with system performance logs to provide metrics on customer behaviour, application performance, and security threats that tie in with business metrics. These real time business insights can correlate system performance with revenue loss, sales numbers with peak response times and other KPIs that cross-evaluate the business with utter simplicity. "By breaking down the data silos and unifying them across the enterprise on a single pane view, we are able to centralize access to information with a C-suite business owner," elucidates Juthika Nagpal, Business Head, SmartCirqls. This value-add of skillsets combined with their Splunk distributorship sets the company apart from typical IT services companies, and it has repeatedly been successful in collaborating operation, business and IT through centralised knowledge management.
