On his appointment as EIR, Sharma's role would be to act as a 'Partner' and help Canaan to evaluate potential deals in the cloud computing sector to enhance its global presence. Sharma brings with him over 22 years of global experience in the Internet, enterprise software, and infrastructure markets.
The roles Sharma played in big enterprises speak volumes about his credentials. Sharma was heading the Internet giant Yahoo! India's R&D operations. Here Sharma used his magic to engineer new global products for Yahoo! Earlier, Sharma had established Teltier Technologies, a wireless infrastructure startup that is now part of Cisco. After a stint as an entrepreneur, Sharma joined Symantec, where he helped the security major's turnaround in India. Sharma was also associated with other large enterprises like AT&T and Lucent among others.
With a lot of responsibilities in hand, finding time for one's personal life may be very tough. But Sharma makes sure that he spends time with his family and friends, while he also finds time for cycling to revitalize his mind.
