Qubole raises Rs.35 Crores in Series A Funding

Qubole, a Big Data startup headquartered in Palo Alto, California with an office in Bangalore, India, has raised Rs.35 Crores in Series A funding from River Ventures and Lightspeed Ventures as well as through angel investment from Venky Harinarayan and Anand Rajaram. The platform provider is based on Apache Hadoop and founded by the creators of ApacheHive and Facebook analytics platform, Ashish Thusoo and Joydeep Sen Sarma. The founders serve as Qubole's CEO and Head of Qubole India respectively.

Qubole has been optimized for the cloud and is focused on making analytics easy and accessible to businesses of all sizes. The company claims that the data engine can enable users to integrate and consolidate data from multiple sources on the premise of cloud and provide instant access through analytics tools like tableau and Excel.

The big data company also recently broke the half Petabyte mark in processed data volume after coming out of its beta phase. "We have reached a critical point where our model has been validated by customers and investors alike. A half petabyte of data processed demonstrates Qubole's growth and Viability and we are very excited to raise the bar again as we continue to innovate on behalf of our users," says Thusoo.

The company also said that users do not require a team of specialists to understand the complexity of putting together a Big Data stack. In house comparisons with Amazon Elastic Map Reduce show that queries tested on a variety of text/json run five times faster on average with qubole Data Service.

Users can begin running queries on Quoble after signing up literally within minutes. The company currently caters to organizations in e-commerce, ad tech, web and mobile applications and gaming verticals.
