PolicyBazaar Raises Rs. 40 Crore Funding

PolicyBazaar, a web based insurance aggregator has raised Rs. 40 crore in a funding round led by Intel Capital. Existing investor Info Edge also participated in the round with a Rs. 10 crore investment. This round made PolicyBazaar the first Info Edge backed company to raise an external funding. Info Edge has previously invested Rs. 20 crore in the firm. With their investment in the company Info Edge has about 49 percent stake in it.

PolicyBazaar CEO Yashish Dahiya said that this will be their company’s last round of funding prior to an Initial Public Offering (IPO). The company is targeting to go public in the next 3 – 4 years. The company will use this fund for further marketing and on their platform. The company presently has about 300 employees, of which 65 percent are in their call centers, and is expected to revamp to 700.
