With a 16 years career spanning Sales, Business Development, and overall P&L accountability, Ananth Padmanabhan has been recently appointed as the Head of Service Business in Sonata Information Technology. In his new role, he will focus on the domestic market and leverage Sonata’s goodwill in the customer fraternity as well as its strong ties with global technology majors to further build the company’s services portfolio.

Describing his current role as challenging, Padmanabhan believes that with the burgeoning number of talented players in the market India is also maturing in its use of information technology as a tool to accrue business benefits.

Prior to joining Sonata Padmanabhan was Deputy General Manager for Key Accounts in Aztecsoft. In a quest for entrepreneurship, he successfully Co-founded two enterprises in Singapore. As a leader he believes, “Besides building a team of competent workforce in the organization to achieve desired goals, a leader should also support the team in achieving the goal.” An extrovert, Padmanabhan loves working with people and helps them shape their career. His ‘passion’ to create strong business relationships with people has played a key role in building up a successful career graph. He advises the young techies, “It is significant to keep the technology skills and knowledge updated with the growing demands of the market, rather than being a frog in the well.”

Padmanabhan is an engineering graduate from IIT Kharagpur, with an MBA degree from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore. Outside work, he enjoys playing golf and bridge and likes to spend time with his wife Priya and son Ved. He also plays the guitar, though he rarely finds time for it these days.
