Online Grocery Store BigBasket Raises Rs.200 Crore

BigBasket.com, an online food and grocery store, raised a funding of Rs.200 crore by Helion and Zodius Fund II with Avendus, venture capital firms. The investment round was also led by its current investors Ascent Capital and LionRock Capital. The new funding will be used by the company to move beyond its service locations of Bangalore, Mumbai and Hyderabad to Pune and Delhi in next six months and to 10 more cities by next year.

Headquartered in Bangalore, BigBasket.com is a 2011 launched online food and grocery store. From fresh fruits and vegetables, rice and dals, spices and seasonings to packaged products, beverages, personal care products and Meats, the company offers a wide variety of categories to its customers to pick and buy the lowest priced qualitative groceries.

With over 10,000 products and over a 1000 brands in its catalogue, the two-year-old startup has crossed $100 million (Rs.600 crore) of valuation. Till date, Big-Basket has raised total funding of Rs.278 crore backed by prominent investors. This grocery e-tailer heavily focus on implanting technology into its every solutions and thus looks forward to invest the new funding into newer technologies, bolstering customer experience.
