If the bi-finger activity of your multi-touch device has prevented you to enjoy all of its functions, the 10 finger sensor will remove all such intricacies. The new 10 finger touch revolution is the credit of a California based semiconductor firm Synaptics.

The new multitouch-sensor ClearPad 3000 Series of Synaptics capture 10 simultaneous finger touches and multi-finger gestures that enables functions like playing polyphonic sounds on a virtual piano keyboard. The new sensor features an accuracy of plus/minus one milimeter, is 0.3 milimeter thick, and is available in sizes up to eight inches diagonally.

The multi-touch factor may have etched its presence through the iPhone, but the two-finger sensor technology debuted under Synaptics before the iPhone release. The iPhone’s release after the release of Synaptics’ technology brings Apple’s touch technology under speculation, however, its only the iPod, which confirms of adopting Synaptics sensors. The success of iPhone turned many mobile manufacturers to seek the technology of Synaptics. Currently, the technology is used by T-mobile G1 of HTC, Samsung and LG.

The fray to be among the most vehement player in the touch technology will see the current players adopt similar concepts for mobiles as well as for the new touch tablets. The use of 10 fingers will enable to wipe out the limitations of touch, which prohibits simultaneous actions in a multi-touch platform. This may also encourage notebooks to turn on touch with users being able to use both the hands together to perform speedy functions that require more than two fingers. Apple might be contemplating a similar technology for its new web tablet or for the MacBook.
