Co-founded by Kumar Malavalli and Rajeev Atluri in 2001, InMage Systems is a provider of business continuity and disaster recovery CDP software for medium and large enterprises. Inmage has recently raised $10 million in Series B funding. The round was led by an unknown strategic corporate partner, Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, and Kumar Malavalli, InMage Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer.

The company’s list of strategic partners includes some intriguing possibilities: HP, IBM, Pillar Data, Quantum, RedHat, Sungard, Symantec, VMware, and Xiotech, as well as integrators iStreet Solutions and Solidcore.

All investors except the mysterious new corporate entity had contributed to InMage’s previous round. The startup’s total funding is $17.3 million. The new funding will be used to increase sales and marketing and fund product engineering.

“Our momentum is a direct result of the increased market demand for our technology which has a unique value proposition,” said, John Ferraro, President and CEO of InMage. The continued support of their previous investors, combined with the addition of a new strategic partner in this round, validates InMage’s presence in the continuous data protection software sector.
