As a part of the company's expansion plans for its India-based Research and Development (R&D) operations, LSI, a provider of innovative silicon, systems and software solutions for storage and networking, has opened a new R&D Center in Bangalore. As a part of the move, LSI plans to double the head-count in its India-based engineering organization in the next three years.

Jeff Richardson, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Semiconductor Solutions Group, LSI, who inaugurated the new center said, "With excellent technical education infrastructure and talent, India is a key component of our long-term strategic vision. The R&D capabilities in India will allow us to innovate and deliver storage and networking technologies that enable our customers to outpace the competition."

The Bangalore development center will support new as well as ongoing research and development across the company's entire portfolio of solutions for storage, networking and custom silicon, said Richardson.
