Sigma Partners and Columbia Capital have added Kirusa Inc. as their new client by announcing an $11 million deal with the New Providence, NJ based company.

Kirusa Inc, founded by Inderpal Singh Mumick, is a provider of Voice SMS solutions and multimodal platforms. Existing investor Innovacom also participated in the round.
The Kirusa Voice SMS solution enables mobile users to send SMS messages with voice and reply to SMS messages with voice. The solution is based on Kirusa’s technology, and works on all handsets and networks.

KV.SMS features intuitive user interface as well as many traffic-stimulating features, such as Click2Listen for one-click listen and reply, MMS integration, voice information services and interconnection between mobile network operators. KV.SMS can be deployed in a matter of weeks, and its fast user adoption has led to explosive revenue growth for Kirusa’s customers.

Speaking about the VC interest in his company, Mumick said, “This financing marks an important milestone for Kirusa as we continue our global leadership in Voice SMS and the broader multimodal technologies. The company will use the capital to expand sales, marketing and support efforts globally, as well as expanding R&D efforts in New Jersey and in India.”

Besides New Jersey, Kirusa has a development center in Bangalore.
