Launched in July 2012, Bangalore based Codelearn raised Rs.75 lakhs from French Angel Investors, Kima Ventures. This fund will be used for including more courses, hiring and for marketing purpose.

Codelearn allows programmers and non-programmers to learn programming languages through interactive courses and an in-browser app development environment on their website.

The company offers these tutorials on a need-to know basis rather than the traditional chapter model i.e. it only offers information that would be needed during a specific course and ignores all the smaller level details which may not be needed for a programmer.

Going forward, Haridas said that they plan to add more courses and introduce additional app development environments in the future. Codelearn currently offers only Ruby on Rails app development environment.

The company currently focuses on building their user base on Codelearn, before considering different ways for monetization. Also, they plan to introduce advanced courses to registered users on a subscription based model.
