In a bid to improve the current infrastructure in the country, Indian IT majors TCS and Wipro together with ABB, provider of power and automation technologies, have joined hands with Acatech, the German Academy of Science and Engineering. The one year project, German-Indian Partnership for IT Systems (GRIP-IT), aims to act as a catalyst for future R&D collaborations between the two countries by bringing together German and Indian partners from the world of academia and industry to form a networking platform.

The project, which is funded by German government, will organize workshops and symposiums across India, providing a forum for thought leaders from business and research institutes to present findings and interact on areas of mutual interest under the broad topic of ‘Smart Cities’. The program will also undertake comparisons of the innovation systems in Germany and India.

“GRIP-IT will be bringing German and Indian partners together from fields of academics and industry to discuss ways and means to incorporate advanced technology solutions to enhance efficient urban infrastructure,” says Henning Kagermann, Acatech President and former CEO, SAP AG.
