Sam Singh, the first Indian American state representative of a House Democratic Floor , has recently being appointed as the Minority Floor Leader for the 2015-2016 legislative sessions. Singh has recently introduced a legislation that prevents landlords and Realtors from discrimination against individuals based on their status as a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking.
Another Indo-American politician, Kumar P. Barve, is a member of the Maryland House of Delegates was elected to a state legislature in the U.S. in 1990. Barve has recently announced his plans on running for the US House seat in 2016, earlier this week. Jindal recently created a buzz by blasting Obama administration's new rule that makes it harder for governors skeptical of man-made climate change to obtain federal money to prepare for emergencies such as floods and hurricanes.
