Hard disk encryption will be a matter of a few seconds. An Indian scientist has clear cached earlier encryption speeds, through a new algorithm. The genius Palash Sarkar, a Professor at the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) in Kolkata, has made the encryption speed faster by 30 to 40 percent, a move that could keep computer hackers jobless.

The current disk encryption-decryption speed makes the software and the different applications, extremely slow. The mechanism through which the speed of the data enciphered could be maximized will be revealed in October.

Sarkar’s rousing invention in the field of data transmission, will curb all hackers to swipe information. This would be a relief for the Indian brands, where phishing attacks have increased four-fold from 0.05 percent to 2 percent. The threat from the technology would be felt by the cyber frauds if it is commercialized to address the $1 billion-plus market for encrypting technology. As per analysts, the patenting of the technology could also imply the birth of an Indian software security company whose algorithm can be licensed globally.
