Govt. prepares to invest Rs. 4,300-cr. in Education Master Plan

The state government in Karnataka has decided to invest Rs. 4,300 crores in an education master plan, which will help improve the infrastructure of the universities and colleges in the state and will form a cluster of universities through which the colleges can gain more academic freedom and flexibility. The Principal Secretary of the Higher Education Department Rajneesh Goel mentioned, "In the first phase, we will establish four cluster universities including the Kalaburagi district."
The announcement further stated that the cluster universities would cost an estimated Rs. 55 crore in order to improve the infrastructure, which includes new classrooms, hostel buildings would be constructed, equipment and new books for the libraries would be purchased and training would be provided to the teaching staff. Under the recently announced Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) scheme, the government would also provide Rs. 2 crore to all the government colleges in the State to improve their infrastructure and to improve the quality of education.
