In his 20 plus years of career in the marketing, sales, and general management, Urs Pennanen has spent 16 years working in Nokia Siemens Network. Pennanen, who is currently the Head of Sales of the Operations and Business Software (OBS) business unit at Nokia Siemens Networks in Finland, will take on the position of Sub Region Head at Nokia Siemens Networks for India and Nepal from this September. He has been named as the new Head for India operations.

Pennanen has extensive experience in Sales and General Manager roles. He lived for 11 years in Central Europe donning roles such as Account Manager and Country and General Manager positions for Austria, the Netherlands, and the Alps region. In 2002 he returned to the headquarters in Finland, and during the transition he served as Global Key Change Director for the Nokia Networks Demand Supply Planning. Back in Finland, he was appointed as Vice President Marketing and Sales for the Nokia Networks Operations Solutions Business. And, in 2005 he was appointed Vice President Sales of West Europe in the Services organization. Adding yet another feather to his cap, he was appointed Vice President Marketing and Sales of the Services organization in Nokia’s Networks Business Group in mid 2006.

In the capacity of his new role, Pennanen will be responsible for the overall functionality of the company, driving its business strategy in India. Prior to joining Nokia, he worked for the Finnish Ministry of Trade and Industry both in Finland and in Germany.

Pennanen has a M.Sc. degree in industrial management from Technical University of Helsinki. He has two children and is based in Helsinki.
