An avid golf lover, Vivekanand Venugopal also enjoys fishing, jungle treks, and aero-modeling. He has spent 16 years of his career in the IT industry and recently took over as Vice President and General Manager, Hitachi Data Systems India. Venugopal’s new leadership role would encompass growing the business, extending partnerships, and accelerating expansion of the company’s revenue, customers, and marketshare in India.

Starting his career as a sales representative selling Networking, CAD and CAM, and Storage Integration Solutions, Venugopal joined Hitachi Data Systems in India in 2001 as Business Development Manager and later handled sales across India. He was responsible for driving the storage management solution business line across the Asia-Pacific region in 2004. Prior to joining Hitachi Data Systems, he worked with a storage integration company based in Bangalore. “It’s been quite an exciting and challenging journey from a Sales Representative to a Regional Business Head,” says Venugopal.

As a leader, he believes in treating problems as opportunities for the teammates and the organization. “Once a leader gets the team members to realize their potential, the results are always extraordinary,” asserts Venugopal. The ability to balance strategy and tactics is key to his success in work.

Standing at the helm of his beliefs, Venugopal advices the ‘techies’ that rewards and financial benefits will follow only when there is continuous learning and sharing. He holds a graduate degree in computer science and engineering from BMS College of Engineering and a postgraduate degree in marketing management from Bangalore University.
