Moving from the mobile and broadband brand to the most talked about direct-to-home (DTH) TV service, the Indian telecom service provider Bharti Airtel has launched Digital TV in partnership with Infosys Technologies. The services are launched in 62 cities and will grow to cover 252 cities.

This new service will include exclusive applications like iCity that enables viewers to access local city information, iNet which will provide hassle free Internet-like experience in the television, and tPortal that enables TV viewing of select websites packaged for the service. "The availability of these services in the Indian market marks a significant milestone- the transformation of the idiot box into a smart box," says S D Shibulal, Chief Operating Officer, Infosys.
