The technology is constantly evolving in the present world. However, majority of our engineering graduates are still struggling to adopt to this evolution and falling behind. On the other hand, companies that are recruiting engineers on a large scale are facing a tough times as they are forced to spend a lot of time, money and resources to train them. With the belief to empower students to be industry ready, NSN College of Engineering and Technology has been established in 2011. "The most common problem in the industry is that they are able to get good output from the fresh employees only after one year of rigorous training inside the organization. As a new engineering institute, we have ensured that we are involved with the industry to constantly empower our students, which will eventually eradicate the problem of extra training from the companies," says Ar.N.Nallusamy, Secretary, NSN College of Engineering and Technology. Being an architect by profession and his internal passion towards corporate professionalism, helped him to realize that the students and faculty should be involved with the industry and therefore helped in starting the institute in Karur, Tamilnadu where very few engineering institutes are present.

NSN College of Engineering and Technology is required to follow the curriculum assigned by the university and it is limiting the institutes' freedom to deliver innovative teaching methodologies through the syllabus. However, the management has ensured that all the Saturdays, the students are able to gain practical exposure through guest lectures, practical job training and projects. "We conduct industrial training program to our students where basic engineering training is taught to them," says Ar.N.Nallusamy, adding that the institute sends its engineering students to various training schools run by companies such as TVS, Hero, Honda, Talent Spirit and others to understand the basics of engineering.

The institute has signed a significant number of MoUs with organizations such as TVS Training and Services, Tessolve, Interlogicx Technologic, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Precisions Equipments Pvt Ltd., Greenwich Nexen and others. Apart from that, the institute consistently invites senior level executives from companies such as HAVELLS, IBM, Accenture, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Microsoft, Ericsson, Honeywell, Infosys and other to deliver guest lectures. He adds, “the students are very anxious to ask questions during these guest lectures and this attitude has impressed the industry people who have been invited to the campus."

Faculty Development Programs

In order to provide students with industry ready skills, the institute has ensured that the faculty members who teach the students possess the adequate necessary knowledge. "A very important feedback that we have received from the industry is to send our faculty members for industrial training, which will enable them various opportunities to understand the practical nature of the theory subject they teach and also what is industry relevant," says P.Selvam, Chairman. When most students graduate and join corporate organizations, they are not able to understand the practical nature of their job, which needs to be filled by the teaching fraternity. As it is the faculty members' duty to provide the right knowledge to the students, NSN College of Engineering and Technology sends the faculty members for industrial training every semester for two weeks thus understanding the industry's requirement. Faculty members at the institute are required to publish two papers in national publications and attend industry internships. The institute also invites a significant number of IIT and NIT professors to update the acuity and the students on the current trends in the industry and what the industry needs.
