The birth of Xavier Institute of Management can be credited to a ‘social contract’ between the Odisha State Government and Jesuit Odisha Society. XIM Bhubaneswar has risen up to be a premier institution facilitating its students and faculties with high end industrial and global exposure. The institute tie up with Arizona State University enabled it to impart global master degrees, acceptable worldwide and eventually established international ties with Skarbek Graduate School of Business Economics, Warsaw, Poland, KEDGE Business School, Bordeaux and Marseille, France amongst several others. Established in 1987, XIM offers MBA in Rural Management, Sustainability Management and several doctorate programmes while offering practical exposure of virtual classrooms and ‘Centre of Research’. These centres comprise of executive education, management development centre, case research in business management & social science. The recent Xavier Digital School and research centres help in providing extensive education. The faculty and student body are encouraged to participate in live projects and consultations to imbibe in practical knowledge. Few companies to have accepted such collaborations are NALCO, Tata Steel and many more.

XIMB and Odisha Government have entered into a consulting collaboration under the name of CEFT (Centre of Excellence in Fiscal Policy and Taxation). The on campus incubation centre has been instrumental in aiding certain startups like ‘Grassroutes’ and ‘Wondergrass’ to pave their way into business. An institute accredited with South Asian Quality Assurance and NBA, XIM plays host to numerous industry leaders like Deloitte, Tata Steel, Idea and many more for its campus placement drives and witnesses the presence of eminent speakers like Arvind Subramaniam, Economic advisor to the Central Government.
