With the ambition to accomplish the need to produce an effective source of technical man-power and to contribute to the nation's growth, the Sathyabama University was established in 1988 by Jeppiaar Educational Trust. The University has faculty enriched with expertise in their areas and Student Community with the intention towards transforming the society for a better tomorrow. The University offers courses in 24 branches of Engineering at the UG level and 24 courses at PG level in addition to Sciences, MBA, MCA and Ph.D programs in all disciplines.
Imparting knowledge in the areas of engineering, science, technology, the university constantly upgrades the quality of technical education. The University has excellent infrastructural facilities including modern laboratories, library with video, Internet and other general amenities. To its credit Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, has awarded it as Category "A "University. The University has undertaken various sponsored and collaborative Research and Development projects funded by national organizations such as Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) and others. Adding glory to the college, the final year student Ms. Jasleen Josan, of Aeronautical Engineering Department, was selected in the competition conducted by NASA for her research proposal titled "Designing of Application of Space Program."
