MREC is now an accreditated institution by NBA & NAAC with 'A' Grade. The Institution has high quality infrastructure and well equipped laboratories in all departments. The college achieved autonomous status under JNTUH w.e.f 2011-12 and also conferment of autonomous status by UGC from 2014-15 for a period of 6 years. MREC Professional Education forms the first and foremost foundation for the students to achieve higher goals in life and covering various streams of Engineering & Technology and Management. MREC (A) is developing continuous reforms in examination and evaluation systems.

A recent report of Royal Institute of chartered surveyors states that by the year 2020, India will need 4 lakh civil engineers when there are only 65,000 civil engineers in country today. It is predictable that the demand of civil engineers is going to increase in the future. MREC (A) has been producing highly skilled civil engineers every session, as a part of the collective responsibility they share as an educational institution since 2004 in an effort to fill the dearth of engineers in the country. Having the experience required to know the field thoroughly, the institute understands that survey is the key aspect of civil engineering. Equipped with the knowledge of the field, the institute offers a special course in Surveying Total Station. Explaining us about the importance of survey in civil engineering Dr. S. Sudhakara Reddy, Principal, Malla Reddy Engineering College says, "During execution, project of any magnitude is constructed along the lines and points established by surveying. Thus, surveying is a basic requirement for all Civil Engineering projects." Apart from survey, the department also offers short term courses on Auto Cad, Staad.Pro, Primavera, Remote Sensing & GIS, MX-Roads, Plaxuis-2D, BIM and Geo-Studio 5.

MREC trains its students with the help of the MoUs maintained with key organizations in the field. Focus Academy for Career Academy trains the students in various aspects before the placement activities. This academy trains the students for their overall development as personality development is a vital part of the whole training process. For training and skill development the college also has tie-ups with organizations such as Indian Geo technical society, Institution of the civil engineers and Procad Technologies. Tie ups with these organizations also result in industry exposure, through internships conferences, seminars and workshops. Two placement officers and six industrial expert trainers are fully dedicated in equipping the students with the required knowledge and expertise needed to get in the industry and also sustain in it.

Placements are not only an important part of an institution, but also one of the elements that defines the future and the past of the institute. Each year graduates from MREC (A) are placed in reputed organizations such as L&T, IVRCL and ARVEE Associates & Ramky, where the companies offer them packages starting from three lakhs up to five lakhs. The placement figures act as an evidence of their quality education, which has resulted in good placement records over the years and has remained the same for a long time now. The placements are also the result of the efforts made by the training and placement cell and the institution collaboratively.

Keeping the placements and the courses aside MREC (A) places lots of importance on research activities as well. Since research is the base of all the developments in an institution, a lot of research activities are being conducted by the institute. Particularly in civil engineering a lot of research work is being conducted in the sub-fields such as geotechnical, construction management and geographic information systems. The faculty and the students both are involved in the various research activities that are being conducted at the institute. Research activities that are conducted by various departments are funded by external agencies, currently the civil engineering department is sponsored with two Minor Research projects of worth Five Lakh rupees which is funded by the UGC. Faculty and Students are encouraged to present papers in international seminars, conferences and publish papers in reputed national and international journals.
