Among 727 universities in India, Lovely Professional University (LPU) is the largest university in terms of number of students on a single campus. With students coming from all the 29 states of India and 35+ countries including the U.S., China, Colombia, Thailand, Ghana, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Nepal, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Nigeria and more, LPU houses more than 30,000 fulltime students in its 600 acre campus, which is located on Jalandhar-Delhi National Highway at Phagwara (Punjab), in addition to over one lakh students who are pursuing distance education programs of LPU. As the university has been making progress on its mission of "Transforming Education, Transforming India" forward since the inception in 2005 with more than 3,600 staff members, the number of students joining the university has surged with each passing year. Hence, convocation ceremonies at LPU are always a sight to behold with most celebrated global leaders addressing a massive number of future talents from the university.

On the occasion of 5th convocation this year, the religious leaders of the world, Nobel Laureate for Peace and the great spiritual leader of Tibet His Holiness Dalai Lama was present, who appreciated LPU environment open heartedly. He deified LPU students' souls through sermonized message to bring peace and happiness globe over. During the convocation he advised LPU fraternity by saying, "Students are the 21st century people and should make this a century of peace, love and compassion. You should not take life for ease. You should work hard and be optimistic. Our prime purpose in this life is to help others as we all are human beings of one world."

If it was the spiritual guru, Dalai Lama, who enlightened spiritual thoughts of audience on the first day of 5th Convocation, which was consciously designed to be scheduled in two phases, on the second day, LPU hosted another charismatic leader and great visionary, Honorable Prime Minister of Lesotho Kingdom Dr. Pakalitha Bethuel Mosisili. Inspiring the mammoth gathering of graduating students, PM Mosisilii asked them to go out in the world and fly free like eagles in the sky and laid great stress on having stronger Indo - African relations and collaborations for the betterment of the people in diverse fields. Indeed, by inculcating one of the most updated and finest curricula for its programs in the country, LPU gives wings for its students to fly high in this era of cut-throat competition, which is evident from the latest placement results.

This year, LPU has broken all its previous placement figures by setting a new record in North India with largest number of 610 engineering students' placement by a single company, in a single day, on the single campus. In addition, international placements by Ritz Carlton Hotel USA, Qatar Airways Doha & Al Rakha Group Dubai at allowance up to Rs 22 Lakh also made LPU to clog up one of the highest placement packages' record in the region. "We have now emerged as one of the leading universities of India and we are duly recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC). The recognitions by the statutory bodies of the Government of India in diverse fields of higher education including National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Distance Education Council (DEC), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), Council of Architecture (COA) and Bar Council of India (BCI), show the quality of education we are providing and today we are also a member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU)," says Ashok Mittal, LPU Chancellor.

Within span of some years, LPU has grown into a massive single campus university by adding new courses and teaching methodologies with a target of featuring in the list of top 200 Universities of the world by 2025. LPU's huge number of alumni working in more than 300+ global and Indian organizations proves that the university has never compromised on their quality of teaching to produce graduates according to the modern day industrial requirements. Hence, we can undoubtedly infer LPU's existence in the Indian Higher Education sector as a necessity of our country, which needs large number of talented youngsters to become economic powerhouse.
