Fellow Program in Management (FPM) is recognized as equivalent to PhD by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The difference between a PhD and FPM is similar to the distinction between an MBA and PGDM. FPM grooms promising young researchers to be innovative problem-solvers and thinkers in the business disciplines of Accounting, Financial Economics, Information Systems, Marketing, Operations Management, Organizational Behavior and general management areas. The program is aimed to train individuals who excel in their area of research through publication quality work of international standard.

While IIMs, XLRI, ISB and other stand-alone institutes offer a fellow program in management (FPM), universities and the IITs and NITs offer a PhD in Management. As a FPM student, one gets the opportunity to work closely with faculty members in the capacity of research assistant and co-author. This core research focus serves not just to hone the future researcher but also allows students enrolled in the other programs at ISB to benefit from state-of-the-art research that is carried out at an institution. Challenging, comprehensive and global in scope, FPM embodies commitment towards becoming a world-class, research-oriented institution and prepares one for faculty positions at leading universities across the world. As a FPM scholar, one is groomed to make an impact in academia as well as in the global business sphere.
